Familiar faces and creative Halloween costumes filled the room to make our Halloween party and 7th Partnership of Hope meeting a great success! From clowns and hippies to army men and “surgeons”, patients ranging from 19-78 sat down to enjoy a warm meatloaf dinner prepared by the volunteer staff members at ANS.
During dinner, Dr. Stillerman spoke with patients about advancements in neurosurgical procedures, drugs and chemotherapy. While he mingled with patients and answered questions, Dr. Stillerman expressed his passion for the field, his dedication to his patients and provided insight on what patients can expect from new advancements in neurosurgery.
In addition to dinner, ANS provided fun activities for patients to participate in. Patients who attended this month’s meeting enjoyed guests Kerry Rasp and Jennifer Huchnik. Kerry Rasp is a mediation instructor, MBSR facilitator and life coach. MBSR or Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction helps people to intentionally sustain a heightened and relaxed awareness of whatever is happening in the present moment. For more information on Kerry Rasp, you can visit his website at www.kerryrasp.com. Patients who did not participate in Kerry’s mindful meditation session enjoyed massages from massage therapist Jennifer Huchnik.
